Resource Allocation in an Open RAN System Using Network Slicing

The next radio access network (RAN) generation, open RAN (O-RAN), aims to enable more flexibility and openness, including efficient service slicing, lower the operational costs in 5G beyond wireless networks. Nevertheless, strictly satisfying quality-of-service requirements while establishing priorities promoting balance between significantly heterogeneous services remains a key research problem. In this paper, we use slicing study service-aware baseband resource allocation virtual function (VNF) activation O-RAN systems. limited fronthaul capacity end-to-end delay constraints are simultaneously considered. Optimizing resources includes unit (O-RU), physical block (PRB) assignment, power allocation. main problem is mixed-integer non-linear programming that non-trivial solve. Consequently, break it down into two different steps propose an iterative algorithm finds near-optimal solution. first step, reformulate simplify find allocation, PRB number of VNFs. second O-RU association resolved. proposed method validated via simulations, which achieve higher data rate than existing methods.
